I love watching TV. But I don’t call it watching TV. I call it research. I’m an actress after all. And I need
to learn from the pros.
We all have to do some research to be good at our job. It just happens that my study requires long
periods of time sitting in my living room with popcorn in my lap being entertained! I love doing
research!
And I bet you love doing research too. And that’s great. Because while you’re “doing research”, you
can also learn English.
Watching TV in English can be a great way to learn—especially conversational skills. You can choose
to watch with English subtitles so you can read along.
So let’s see what TV series might be good to watch if you want to absorb English:
Friends http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0108778/
How I Met Your Mother http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0460649/
Desperate Housewives http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0410975/
Gilmore Girls http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0238784/
And the best part is: you don’t even notice you’re working! You just sit back and absorb the
language.
But you already know that listening to natural speech inside a story in the form of TV, film or video is
a great way to learn. That’s why you’re on this journey with us—because we do too.
I hope you like our suggestions. Let us know what you think!
