It’s Christmas. And nothing means Christmas to me more than mince pies. I love them! But I won’t eat them at any other time of year because when I eat my first mince pie, Christmas begins.
A traditional British Christmas has so much delicious food. Some recipes have been around for centuries!
Before lunch we snack on crisps, walnuts, clementines, chestnuts, and chocolate (of course).
For Christmas lunch (which can be anytime in the afternoon), we serve:
- Roast turkey
- Roast potatoes
- Brussel sprouts
- Cranberry sauce
- Pigs in blankets (small sausages wrapped in bacon)
And after dinner we have a choice of delicious desserts:
- Christmas pudding
- Mince pies
Though I always go for the mince pies, the Christmas pudding is the big event. It is usually served on fire! The cook dowses the pudding in alcohol and sets light to it before bringing it to the table.
The Brits like drama.
After dinner we are so full, that we just crawl back into the lounge and fight each other for the most comfortable chair. Then we snack on cheese and crackers, more chocolate, and more mince pies.
I love Christmas!
