Nouns are simple, right? They are the most basic element of any language. The first thing we learn. Easy!

If only.

Nouns are little tricksters. They are chameleonic (able to change colour) theriomorphic (able to change shape) beasts!

A word that means one thing by itself, can suddenly take on a different colour or shape when we place it inside a string of words. It suddenly has new context and becomes part of a phrase that means something else.

And some nouns are just hiding a world of detail inside them.

So here are some basic English nouns you may think you know really well, but are plotting to confuse you.
